The crowd of 17049 turning up at
olympia today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Bart Williams was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Per Månström and
Gerd Eidbacher.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Law..
The following players had been chosen: Fofana - Varela, Christensen, Brolin, Roháček - Jonsson, Alanur, Minenko, Dobre, Thorman - Ramírez.
Lokan decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Lineup: Fransson - Persson, Engner, Sunesson, Ecker - Stensson, Pålsson, Jonasson, Wennborg - Adeling, Andersson.
It was an obvious ambition of Law. to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
J. Varela showed great heart and had a good game.
After 20 minutes,
B. Persson sent the corner kick right to
M. Wennborg who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 1!
With 33 minutes having been played, Law. scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but
R. Dobre was marked down as the scorer.
Lokan's
P. Sunesson was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
After 35 minutes of play,
J. Varela gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
Law.'s
D. Christensen got himself booked for a foul.
41 minutes into the game, Law. were awarded a penalty that
S. Alanur turned into 3 - 1 without a problem.
3 - 1 was the halftime score.
Law. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.
49 minutes into the match,
S. Alanur could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar.
The coach of Law. was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes,
G. Mandić came on for
R. Dobre.
With 79 minutes played, Law. put themselves up 4 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
J. Varela, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
The players of Law. now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Players in Law. heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
After 80 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
J. Varela gave the Law. supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 1.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
J. Varela.
H. Stensson was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
A. Andersson seemed unable to profit from this excellent service.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Law. scored another to make it 6 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
M. Thorman after 87 minutes.
Coming from the right,
M. Brolin almost managed to score another goal for Law., but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Law., with 75 percent of the ball.
Law.'s top performer was clearly
M. Thorman.
On the other hand,
M. Brolin's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Lokan player was without a doubt
H. Stensson.
M. Engner turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 6 - 1.
