52843 spectators had found their way to FC Dambrugge Arena, despite the heavy rain. Stephan van Wegen was the appointed referee. People from all over Antwerpen had joined up for the rivalry game. Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Seefhoek will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been selected: Van Buynder - De Wispelaere, Fourneau, Bronchart - Wymeersch, Bourdon, Simon, Votquenne, Bricmont - Galloy, Ucur.

Our studio analysts were correct. team~insanity has taken the field in a 2-5-3 alignment. Lineup: Verellen - Despierre, Calante - Tarquini, Kırdar, Treier, Delporte, Mayeux - Pera, D'Ambrosio, Gallitz.

P. Despierre will have Excedrin Headache number 5 after heading home the hard corner kick from V. Treier after 5 minutes of play. I'm sure that making the score 0 - 1 will assuage him a bit, though. What was J. Bourdon thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving G. Tarquini an extra chance, but unfortunately for team~insanity, he didn't get the shot right. 33 minutes into the game, G. Fourneau came close to leveling the score with a dangerous shot from the center of the area that went just over the bar. S. Galloy of Seefhoek received a yellow card after 39 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. After 40 minutes of game time, J. Calante had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, hitting a cross from the right with a half volley, but R. Van Buynder was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. After 41 minutes, a well-worked counter-attack by Seefhoek on the right gave H. Ucur an easy opportunity in front of the goal. He duly converted to make it 1 - 1. Seefhoek's S. Galloy knew what he was doing as he waited patiently for the right opportunity. Finally he hit it at the perfect moment, but his shot was deftly blocked by the keeper. team~insanity had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 44 minutes in when D. Pera found himself alone with R. Van Buynder who managed a block. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that team~insanity would have 57 percent possession in this half was spot on!

The slippery field made speedy runs nearly impossible, which hampered H. Gallitz in particular. R. Van Buynder looked great 48 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors' F. D'Ambrosio. Oh dear - the keeper's made a mess of that one. The crowd was very disappointed after he let O. Kırdar get the go-ahead goal with a speculative shot from the right after 57 minutes. 1 - 2. G. Iacchi was called on to replace Seefhoek's R. Van Buynder after 60 minutes following a nasty collision. After 62 minutes, team~insanity's O. Kırdar burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3. Maybe G. Fourneau should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 67 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. team~insanity's H. Gallitz received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 74 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 1 - 4. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! The forty-five minutes were dominated by team~insanity, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.

Most important Seefhoek player was S. Votquenne. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because G. Iacchi seemed to stumble all over the pitch. F. D'Ambrosio performed admirably for team~insanity. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by E. Mayeux today. The match ends 1 - 4.
