previous 2/4 next 4/4  Brussels 2 - 2 Trois_fontaines (372954296)

Due to an all-day shower, 38926 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Levis Mirepoix Garden. Olívio Bandeira was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Falko Bodelschwingh and Kirill Letanin. The derby had been the talk of Brussels all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. Brussels tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Inchaustegui - Gaeta, Godói Teles, Wisak-Gradinger - Picaza, Simion, Bryde Andersen, Dahl, Jeckelmann - Castberg, Meza.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Trois_fontaines. Starters: Málek - Bădiţă, Cruciani, Kubajka - Eilander, Eicken, Marchetto, Schrooten, Steeman - Melichar, Bryl.

Brussels fans held their breath as A. Godói Teles scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! D. Melichar did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. H. Meza should probably have put his team up another goal after 31 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by B. Málek kept the visitors in the game. Trois_fontaines's A. Steeman was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - D. Melichar managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 1 after 34 minutes. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Trois_fontaines, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

Trois_fontaines's D. Schrooten's long shot really ought to have found the net 65 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. H. Meza knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 2 - 1 after 66 minutes. R. Loiseau was called on to replace Brussels's M. Castberg after 68 minutes following a nasty collision. Coming from the right, I. Picaza almost managed to score another goal for Brussels, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. Trois_fontaines's N. Bădiţă got himself booked for a foul. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as Trois_fontaines's A. Steeman put the ball in the onion bag after 81 minutes to make it 2 - 2. Trois_fontaines had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Most important Brussels player was T. Bryde Andersen. On the other hand, R. Loiseau's play was disheartening. F. Marchetto performed admirably for Trois_fontaines. E. Eilander on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 2.
