(372972576)

27-05-2012 13.00
The crowd of 38717 turning up at
le stade des champions today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Thomas Dietl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Vincent Leveque and
Rikkert Wemekamp.
Lambermont decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Verhofstadt - Barre, Rajoy, Hernández Mérida - Dirlmeier, Allaer, Abu-Yaseen, De Ceulaer, Gilleman - Baton, Rütti.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for O.U.L.
The following players had been chosen: Bierset - Hallez, Ryckaert, De Kee - Willems, Dieschburg, Fischer, Di Pietro - Nadal, Margodt, Damien.
Lambermont were clearly looking ahead to the next match rather than focusing on the one at hand.
It was an obvious ambition of Lambermont to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
A. Abu-Yaseen did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
With 15 minutes played,
K. Dieschburg of O.U.L fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Lambermont had a chance to take the lead after
I. Rütti's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 16 minutes.
I. Rütti of Lambermont received a yellow card after 17 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Lambermont had a good opportunity to take the lead as
D. Allaer came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of
S. Bierset.
S. Hernández Mérida received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 25 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
A. Baton.
Some great play up the middle by Lambermont led to a chance for
D. De Ceulaer to score after 34 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
Slack defending gave Lambermont a chance to take the lead with 36 minutes played, but
D. De Ceulaer's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition.
0 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Lambermont enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
Lambermont had underestimated their opponents in the first half, and it looked like a shock result was on the way. During the break, the captain called upon his team mates to work harder, and most of them heeded his call.
O.U.L's
J. Nadal managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 48 minutes. 0 - 1.
S. Hernández Mérida showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 57 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away.
After 58 minutes of play,
X. Rajoy gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right.
Lambermont claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
The most dominating Lambermont player was without a doubt
D. De Ceulaer.
M. Verhofstadt was a disappointment, however.
O.U.L's best player was
P. Damien.
E. Hallez on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 1.
