Trinity 8 - 1 Eagles

24601 spectators had found their way to Trinity Arena, despite the heavy rain. Frederik Vammen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Odo Deidre and Javier Eduardo Pelitz. Trinity tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Balsby - Vilariño, Urbina Daóiz, Beagrie - Dobber, Gonçalves, Rogersson, Syla - Ertok, von Bieberstein, Aytek.

Eagles started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Casaluci - Aspenbratt, Korkut - Kaptan, Marie-Sainte, Waterneversdorf, Reck, Soygüven - Sem-Jacobsen, Urba, Noyan.

Pressing was the tactic of the day for Eagles. They were singing the praises of J. von Bieberstein 15 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Trinity. With 16 minutes played, A. Reck of Eagles fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Trinity to 2 - 0 as S. Dobber finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Cheers filled the stadium as Ö. Ertok broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Trinity. The players of Trinity now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Z. Urba did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. After 38 minutes, Trinity sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached O. Aytek, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 4 - 0. The referee showed Eagles's V. Marie-Sainte the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Trinity solidified their lead at the 41 minute mark, as Ö. Ertok dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 5 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 5 - 0. Trinity claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

The home side's Ö. Ertok came close to extending the lead 47 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but G. Casaluci managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave C. Rogersson from Trinity a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 48 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! C. Rogersson left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 50 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. L. Pi Dote was the replacement. With 54 minutes played, Trinity put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to J. Vilariño, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Trinity coach let C. Sperber replace I. Beagrie after 70 minutes. The Trinity players could smell victory in the air. S. Syla wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for S. Ridao after 74 minutes. Trinity's L. Pi Dote increased the lead to 7 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 75 minutes. 77 minutes in, Eagles's S. Korkut received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Trinity's B. Gonçalves went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. In a rapid move 81 minutes into the match, Z. Urba of Eagles lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked R. Sem-Jacobsen who easily hit it home to make it 7 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Eagles's right side looked dangerous after 85 minutes, as T. Noyan broke through. T. Balsby continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. Trinity increased the lead as J. von Bieberstein struck to make the score 8 - 1 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Trinity's S. Ridao was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 87 minutes. C. Sperber of Trinity received a yellow card after 88 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Possession in this half belonged to Trinity, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Trinity's best player was Ö. Ertok. However, S. Ridao made a disastrous appearance. R. Sem-Jacobsen performed admirably for Eagles. V. Marie-Sainte turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 8 - 1.
