After 5 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by GALATASARAY was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. GALATASARAY's P. Wagstaetter increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 14 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of GALATASARAY lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. It was 2 - 0 at the break. GALATASARAY enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

A well placed corner kick from A. Fabris was followed by C. Pérez's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for GALATASARAY, the score now 3 - 0. H. Paljak had a lethal looking free kick that grazed the post after 61 minutes. The home side's K. Vorkapić came close to extending the lead 69 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but G. Chedeville managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. GALATASARAY had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

R. Pasten performed admirably for GALATASARAY. S. Mahzar turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating k.çekmece player was without a doubt P. Labastida. On the other hand, S. Albayrak's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 0.
