Clear skies welcomed the 18200 spectators who had made their way to
ehsan Arena.
Sam Sattler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Claus Ravnkilde and
Frank Westfechtel.
aghili decided to use a 4-5-1 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Amini - Fay, Rakoczy, Bostan, Imboden - Abarbanel, Zyśk, Gastout, Mahdizadeh, Esmaeilzadeh - Arshad.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Bagher.
They fielded: Kolkman - Alexandru, Rande, Heeringa - Agramunt, Jacquet, Fryczkowski, Zotti - Anatibia, Lebduška, Bacchetti.
Pressing was the tactic of the day for aghili.
Down the middle came
L. Zotti, making a fantastic play that nearly had Bagher take the lead after 7 minutes, but
F. Amini preserved the tie.
Bagher took the lead 13 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
G. Bacchetti was the scorer.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
G. Gastout should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Bagher a goal with 17 minutes of the match played.
A penalty was missed by Bagher's
W. Fryczkowski 18 minutes into the match. Probably overconfident, he blasted a hard shot miles outside of the left post.
Bagher came close to extending their lead as
G. Bacchetti delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 19 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
aghili's
G. Zyśk got himself booked for a foul.
After 27 minutes of game time,
I. Lebduška had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
F. Amini was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bagher, with 54 percent of the ball.
The cannonball from 35 metres by
M. Alexandru of Bagher was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net.
After 63 minutes, Bagher's
I. Lebduška burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
W. Fryczkowski from Bagher a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 64 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
M. Heeringa wanted to play on, but the Bagher coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 75 minutes into the game by
A. Bialek.
Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the aghili manager used a brief break in play after 77 minutes to give the players new directives.
It took several tries, but aghili managed to break through on the left after 78 minutes, getting the ball to
G. Gastout who easily reduced the lead to make the score 1 - 2.
After 79 minutes, aghili used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach.
The coach of Bagher was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 80 minutes,
T. Gordon came on for
J. Agramunt.
Possession in this half belonged to aghili, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
Most important aghili player was
B. Mahdizadeh.
T. Bostan was a disappointment, however.
Bagher's best player was
G. Bacchetti.
Q. Kolkman turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 2.
