20-05-2012 16.20
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 59794 had shown up at
St. Denis square for the match.
Luís Capelão was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Oscar Kindbom and
Lucas Bognar.
United started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
They fielded: Serumaga - Latijnhouwers, Holban - Dupuis, Rădescu, Pollina, Opiyo, Ballegaard - Révol, Lipič, Belderink.
Sous-marin tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Kayizi - Bajope, Makalama, Player, Lule - Otim, Oryema-Lalobo, Seguya, Mwisaka - Odoch, Lamwaka.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
A. Dupuis, but the United player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
After 18 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
G. Rădescu gave the United supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
United put themselves up 3 - 0 when
N. Révol broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
N. Révol squirmed through their central defence after 27 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0.
Cheers filled the stadium as
F. Ballegaard broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to United.
The players of United now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Halftime score was 5 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by United, with 85 percent of the ball.
United's
F. Ballegaard increased the lead to 6 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 53 minutes.
M. Lule's lack of experience almost gave United a goal after 71 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms.
F. Pollina increased the lead for United to 7 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in United's
A. Dupuis increasing the lead to 8 - 0.
M. Lule seemed highly inexperienced when, after 82 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed
A. Dupuis to intercept and strike home the goal for United to make the score 9 - 0.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
A. Dupuis.
United solidified their lead at the 83 minute mark, as
G. Rădescu dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 10 - 0.
United managed to extend their lead to 11 - 0 when
D. Lipič cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
United enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 88 percent of possession.
United's best player was
K. Serumaga.
However,
F. Ballegaard made a disastrous appearance.
Sous-marin's top performer was clearly
R. Odoch.
N. Lamwaka turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 11 - 0.
