Cardigan had a chance to take the lead after H. Mouritsen's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 3 minutes. Cardigan were very close to putting themselves one up after 4 minutes as A. Eckerskorn got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. They were singing the praises of A. Eckerskorn 36 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Cardigan. Cardigan put themselves up 2 - 0 when L. Due broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. The players of Cardigan now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The referee showed FCGulf's P. Koppel the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Cardigan enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

The head of H. Mouritsen connected with a corner kick after 75 minutes, and the ball ended up with K. Velevski of Cardigan who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 3 - 0. With 79 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, FCGulf showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 3 - 1 when R. Negretti got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. J. Valdivia's speed was almost enough to give Cardigan a goal after 80 minutes, but his nice pass to A. Eckerskorn was not taken care of properly. FCGulf were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 84 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to P. Koppel, who smashed it home to make the score 3 - 2. After 87 minutes, J. Öhrnberg sent the corner kick right to F. De Backer who headed it sharply past the keeper. 4 - 2! E. Truţescu nearly reduced the lead 87 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by M. Rye-Nielsen prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net. K. Velevski increased the lead for Cardigan to 5 - 2, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Cardigan, with 57 percent of the ball.

Cardigan's best player was J. Valdivia. Y. Abutbul on the other hand, had a terrible day. L. Igna performed admirably for FCGulf. However, D. Weiskirchen made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 2.
