Dark skies made the crowd of 32069 at
Breadwood Bowl a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Othello Van Der Jeught was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Celso Juncal and
Wolf Schier.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
København derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Breadwood tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Honore - Tapia Mateo, Willmes, Weber - van Herk, Ulfsson, Vered, Højmark, Sikora - Pilette, Almstrand.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Mingus.
They fielded: Grišutinas - Christiansen, Trafny, Balslev, Raxo, Hellbo - Leth, Benado, Herbé, Grimm - Degn.
The strategy for Mingus was to use their ability to press.
It was almost a goal for Breadwood following
D. Tapia Mateo's good header after a corner, it went just over the bar though.
Breadwood's
W. Sikora tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
F. Weber was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by
J. van Herk, but the ball bounced off the post to safety.
Breadwood's
T. Vered refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 33 minutes.
Breadwood took the lead 34 minutes in, as
F. Pilette broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
H. Raxo from Mingus a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 42 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 43 minutes Breadwood's
S. Honore had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.
O. Lemvig came in to replace him.
The pressing tactics used by Mingus were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0.
Breadwood enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
58 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
F. Pilette broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Breadwood.
Mingus pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times.
Coming from the right,
W. Sikora almost managed to score another goal for Breadwood, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
Breadwood made it 3 - 0 as
F. Pilette got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
D. Tapia Mateo who whipped a low drive in off the far post.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Breadwood scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
D. Tapia Mateo after 81 minutes.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Breadwood lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
After 85 minutes,
F. Pilette put Breadwood ahead 5 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
That made three goals for
F. Pilette and he was marked down for the hat trick.
Breadwood had most of the ball, with 68 percent of possession.
Breadwood's top performer was clearly
F. Pilette.
However,
O. Lemvig made a disastrous appearance.
Mingus's best player was
A. Benado.
P. Balslev on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 5 - 0.
