(373888652)

15-04-2012 16.00
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 47639 at
Saint Juulsgaard today.
Lars Wartensl was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marcus Ritter zu Groenesteyn and
Nils Dobītis.
Breakdown decided to use a 5-5-0 set up.
They fielded: Bøge - Stjerne, Matthiesen, Gobronidze, Pottier, Jacobsson - Luz, Holtenkvist, Pintus, Gatti, Śmigiel -.
Sländor tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
Starters: Suomi - Bros Nielsen, Stenak - Gurriarán, Sørensen, Stage, Jeppesen, Dall'Acqua - Turecký, Pagter, Tamayo Vera.
Breakdown preferred to finish off their attacks from a distance.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Sländor's
M. Turecký after 2 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.
Some beautiful play by Breakdown set up
J. Śmigiel in a good shooting position after 14 minutes, but
S. Suomi made a great save on the low hard shot.
Breakdown succeeded with their tactics after 25 minutes faking a cross into the penalty area, but instead passing a short side pass back to
L. Matthiesen who met the ball directly with his outstretched foot. The hard long shot touched the keeper's finger tips, but it wasn't enough to stop it from going in. 1 - 1.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Breakdown had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the game, Sländor wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
P. Bros Nielsen gave
J. Bækgård a quick hug as he left the field.
The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 48 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
V. Pintus, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Sländor had a chance to level the score as
G. Dall'Acqua suddenly found himself free in the middle of the box with only the keeper to beat, but he misjudged the finish, and only managed to hit the bar.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Breakdown tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
B. Stjerne slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 3 - 1, 59 minutes into the game.
The coach of Breakdown was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 68 minutes,
C. Nørgård came on for
J. Śmigiel.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Breakdown coach let
S. Cappelletti replace
M. Gobronidze after 80 minutes.
The home side's
F. Gatti came close to extending the lead 80 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
S. Suomi managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
N. Luz left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 81 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
Ü. Berat was the replacement.
Sländor's
P. Stage refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 81 minutes.
Breakdown enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
V. Pintus performed admirably for Breakdown.
Ü. Berat was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Sländor player was without a doubt
V. Tamayo Vera.
G. Stenak on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 1.
