Hold 4 - 1 KayJay

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 41196 had shown up at Hej Arena for the match. Hold decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. Lineup: Śniada - Achleitner, Larsen - Viborg, Gaster, Kløvedal, Berg Briese, Bjerre - Skinderholm, Rueger, De Maesschalck.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for KayJay. The following players had been chosen: Pararas - Ituño, Bruus, Leahu - Castromán, Hollnsteiner, Paajanen, Kytömäki, Zaydman - Turgaç, Bolocan.

Hold mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for KayJay. KayJay's K. Bruus could have put the guests one up after 10 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but A. Śniada was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. C. De Maesschalck made a nice dash down the wing after 13 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. It was obvious that team Hold had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. L. Gaster caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 16 minutes. This gave Hold the 1 - 0 lead. The home side's J. Larsen came close to extending the lead 23 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but S. Pararas managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Hold players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. With the clock showing 24 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of KayJay resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by G. Bolocan in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. G. Bolocan of KayJay received a yellow card after 29 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. E. Ituño got left behind when Hold's C. De Maesschalck made a sudden run forward after 33 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 2 - 0! A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Hold's L. Berg Briese increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The players of Hold now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Hold, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

P. Bjerre had a fantastic opportunity to put Hold up another goal 60 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 63 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as G. Bolocan anticipated the through ball and scored, reducing the deficit to 3 - 1. Hold's O. Viborg saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 66 minutes. Hold put themselves up 4 - 1 when L. Berg Briese broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. S. Pararas was caught napping as M. Achleitner lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. P. Bjerre unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Hold enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.

Hold's top performer was clearly L. Skinderholm. P. Bjerre was a disappointment, however. KayJay's best player was G. Bolocan. On the other hand, Á. Castromán's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 1.
