34020 spectators arrived at
old traford, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Wu Man Lai was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sybren Bleeker and
Miodrag Varga.
reb7in had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Galea - Destexhe, Pinkevich, Capelas - Korsakov, Alboncio, Rossi, Gallarza, de Orleans - Clabaux, Haukerud.
Ettaraji started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Zagrodzki - Qurashi, Fauerby, Giuliato - Stiel, Pääkkö, Gabrieli, Díez de Tejada, bin Saad - Gottby, Nasra.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of reb7in.
F. Gabrieli came close to putting the visiting team one up 19 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
A. Galea managed to tip the ball to a corner.
At 25 minutes played,
O. Clabaux came in from the right with the intention of giving reb7in the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
The guests almost went up by a goal after 37 minutes when
M. Gottby came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
S. Qurashi was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 39 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
After 40 minutes, the defensive line of reb7in created a counterattack through the middle that gave
H. Haukerud a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
0 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Ettaraji claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
After 49 minutes, following yet another great corner,
Y. Destexhe's flick on at the near post reached
O. Clabaux, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick.
50 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Z. Nasra, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Ettaraji the lead 64 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 71 minutes allowed
S. Qurashi to score for Ettaraji. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Ettaraji, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
Most important reb7in player was
H. Haukerud.
Y. Destexhe was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Ettaraji player was without a doubt
M. Gottby.
However,
W. Zagrodzki made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 1.
