Tranca 1 - 2 Simones

The 40680 fans in attendance at Stádio Côco were roasting in the hot sun. Gyula Fehér was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ilya Shagaev and Belmiro Thompson. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Santiago rivalry match and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Tranca formed up in a 4-4-2 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. Starters: Thierstein - Schuchardt, Püntener, Gherzi, Castro - Benelli, Mari Rosales, Wollert, Stråka - Bordé, Gomes.

Our studio analysts were correct. Simones has taken the field in a 3-4-3 alignment. The following players took the field: Encalada - Moll Durelli, Cerrón, Morelli - Lascu, Povalyaev, Planellas, Lázaro Serrano - Magalhães Almeida, de Jesus, Sequeira.

Tranca mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their brilliant ability to attack in the middle. Simones used their titanic ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. 8 minutes into the game, A. Planellas almost gave the visitors the lead, as he chipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Tranca's L. Castro startled M. Bordé with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. 25 minutes into the game, Tranca seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organization. J. Alves was called on to replace Simones's A. Povalyaev after 30 minutes following a nasty collision. C. Lascu's speed was almost enough to give Simones a goal after 31 minutes, but his nice pass to M. de Jesus was not taken care of properly. Tranca fans held their breath as P. Mari Rosales gallivanted down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and fired home the go-ahead goal for 1 - 0! The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Simones, with an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.

During the break, Tranca's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organization. The sunny day didn't make things easy for J. Alves who wasn't his usual powerful self on the field. After 74 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by E. Benelli might have resulted in another goal for Tranca. However, J. Encalada made a spectacular save. R. Gomes should probably have put his team up another goal after 80 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by J. Encalada kept the visitors in the game. 84 minutes into the game, A. Planellas bent a free kick around the home team's wall, leaving the keeper with no chance for a save. Simones had evened up the scoreline! 1 - 1. 85 minutes into the game, Tranca seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. The visiting J. Alves was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 86 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 1 - 2 was the score. Simones were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Most important Tranca player was M. Bordé. I can't remember L. Castro ever having a worse night than he just had. Simones's best player was M. de Jesus. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by J. Alves today. The match ends 1 - 2.
