A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Lightnings to 2 - 0 as A. Karikko finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. A. Burton was called on to replace Lightnings's W. Silfwermo after 26 minutes following a nasty collision. Lightnings increased the lead as C. Quaid struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Y. Maladenis squirmed through their central defence after 32 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0. Confident in their lead, Lightnings's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Lightnings's S. Wolbrink swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. Maladenis had a fantastic opportunity to put Lightnings up another goal 72 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Lightnings scored another to make it 6 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Y. Maladenis after 74 minutes. 76 minutes in, Vibes's P. Paterson received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. G. Cantoni's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Lightnings, he bravely continued in the match. With 82 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, B. Bokholt needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Lightnings enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.

Most important Lightnings player was B. Fleetwood. A. Burton turned in a dismal performance, however. Vibes's top performer was clearly N. Windwehr. P. Paterson was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 0.
