Gausón 1 - 4 Asinine
(374450064)

15-04-2012 18.00
Dark skies made the crowd of 43172 at
Astur Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Francesco Arcella was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jere Heikkilä and
Tuukka Hillu.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
London derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
Gausón had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
They fielded: De Aragón - Rigby, MacBarra, Shirley, Frame - Sá, Börjesson, Sheard, Satter, Vatter - Abu-Saleh.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Asinine.
Starters: Grevet - Cranman, Farneti, Rainamo - Étienne, van Noord, Rohleder, Hiltz, Warchoł - Blackman, Shovkovskiy.
For their match strategy, Gausón had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Asinine saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
With 14 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
T. Hiltz put the ball away for 0 - 1.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
I. Shovkovskiy was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 17 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
K. Cranman increased Asinine's lead to 0 - 2 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner.
28 minutes in, Gausón's
C. Vatter received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
I. Shovkovskiy was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Asinine's
M. Rohleder managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 0 - 3
It was obvious that Asinine had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
With 35 minutes played, Asinine put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
J. Étienne.
The players of Asinine now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
0 - 4 was the halftime score.
Asinine had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
The crowd groaned when
D. Frame, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for Gausón.
A. Blackman left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 60 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
M. Dlabač was the replacement.
Asinine came close to extending their lead as
J. Étienne delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 72 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
Gausón reduced the lead to 1 - 4 with 73 minutes on the clock when
M. Börjesson got the best of a ball floated in from the left.
Asinine claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Most important Gausón player was
S. Satter.
On the other hand,
L. De Aragón's play was disheartening.
I. Shovkovskiy performed admirably for Asinine.
K. Cranman was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 4.
