previous 9/10 next 1/10  Dolly 3 - 3 AFC Stars (374451040)

59294 spectators arrived at The Giant Axe, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Béla Szeles was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gonçalo Leme Araújo and Henrik Leijonland. Dolly had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Alvarado - Ulufer, Ulijn, Urruticoechea - Ciccillo, Nissland, Oudin, Rahmbratt, Siimesranta - Bodnár, Kanatov.

AFC Stars tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Ortiz - Martin, Madunický, Shoppe - Sulaiman, Enfield, Mulvey, Gazier, Straeussl - Kasala, Saltiris.

It was an obvious ambition of AFC Stars to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Dolly took the lead 6 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by A. Ulufer that made the score 1 - 0. Dolly's V. Ciccillo had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded and, after a change of plan, sent the ball to L. Siimesranta who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. K. Sulaiman's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 30 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to V. Kasala who knocked it in for AFC Stars. 1 - 1! After a fine move down the middle W. Ulijn nearly gave the home side a goal after 37 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. The guests took the lead 42 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in T. Saltiris scoring to make it 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dolly, with 57 percent of the ball.

The AFC Stars players could smell victory in the air. V. Kasala wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for A. Nedelea after 60 minutes. After 60 minutes, AFC Stars's A. Mulvey burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3. The local team's free kick specialist A. Ulufer, reduced the away team's lead to 2 - 3 with a humdinger of a shot after 77 minutes. A foul 81 minutes into the game resulted in a free kick for Dolly. A. Ulufer took advantage as he curled the equalising goal into the top corner, just out of the reach of the keeper. 3 - 3. By then A. Ulufer had scored three goals - a hat trick! Dolly had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

C. Rahmbratt performed admirably for Dolly. L. Siimesranta on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important AFC Stars player was T. Saltiris. However, A. Nedelea made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 3.
