It had rained all day, but 26766 hardy fans still made it out to the nest. Vicente Mieres Mieres was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Salvatore Kessinger and Gerardus Bodde. Mothy had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Barlow - Fish, Azmoun, Tiffen - Moreira, Dalton, Flynn, Dalton - Wickham, Adebola, Devereux.

Mattcaster started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Celil - Charlesworth, Bass, Ferguson - Grootjans, Bielec, Ortiz Manuel, Tenorio, Calvani - Lang, Iversen.

Mattcaster tried to focus their attacks down the middle. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but W. Tenorio showed great heart and had a good game. The terraces were silenced after 20 minutes when Mattcaster's T. Lang put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. Mattcaster increased their lead after 25 minutes when W. Bielec broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. The players of Mattcaster now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The rain made it hard for players like M. Adebola to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. The referee showed Mattcaster's W. Bielec the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Mattcaster increased the lead to 0 - 3 as E. Iversen scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. F. Calvani's speed was almost enough to give Mattcaster a goal after 42 minutes, but his nice pass to E. Iversen was not taken care of properly. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave T. Flynn from Mothy a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Mattcaster had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.

With 49 minutes played, Mattcaster's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to F. Calvani he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 0 - 4. With 57 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Mothy resulted in a counterattack that set K. Devereux free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. 69 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Mothy's T. Flynn received his second yellow card and was sent off. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Mothy's L. Moreira was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes. S. Roalfe was given a chance to change things around. Unfortunately for Mattcaster, E. Iversen was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. M. González Blanco replaced him. W. Tenorio was handed the Mattcaster captain's armband. Mothy mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 78 minutes, but B. Fish was unable to convert from short range. A drive down the left side allowed D. Ortiz Manuel to get in close and score another goal for Mattcaster after 84 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 5. With 89 minutes played, the Mothy coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. D. Davidge came on, B. Azmoun had to leave the fray. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, B. Fish took over the role of being the Mothy captain. Mattcaster claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

The most dominating Mothy player was without a doubt B. Fish. M. Adebola on the other hand, had a terrible day. Mattcaster's top performer was clearly T. Lang. However, M. González Blanco made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 5.
