15-04-2012 20.00
Clouds darkened the skies at
The Honey Jar as 36411 spectators turned up for the match.
Brisko Knapp was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Protazy Czudak and
Nemo Vandeputte.
Rulesz tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Abbas - Hunkeler, Cioc, Koops - Kamp, Jegerings, Aguilar, Adam, Ciobanu - Habar, Puig.
Woerkum decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Stager - Öfverberg, Steeneveld, Guerreiro - Saarikivi, Meyer, Custers, Averdonk, Miatow - Weynen, Rees.
Rulesz took the lead after 24 minutes as a result of
N. Kamp's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0.
Rulesz's
V. Adam struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 31 minutes.
A. Miatow was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
N. Rees seemed unable to profit from this excellent service.
Rulesz's
V. Ciobanu increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 35 minutes.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Rulesz lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
With 37 minutes played,
L. Koops of Rulesz fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Rulesz had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Weynen from Woerkum a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 48 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Rulesz to 4 - 0 as
H. Jegerings finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
V. Ciobanu wanted to play on, but the Rulesz coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by
C. Hochreutener.
The Rulesz players could smell victory in the air.
J. Puig wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
N. Petsalnikos after 75 minutes.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rulesz, with 57 percent of the ball.
The most dominating Rulesz player was without a doubt
N. Petsalnikos.
On the other hand,
Q. Abbas's play was disheartening.
Woerkum's best player was
M. Weynen.
H. Stager turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 4 - 0.
