Ciobanu increased the lead to 3 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 35 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Rulesz lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. With 37 minutes played, L. Koops of Rulesz fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Weynen from Woerkum a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 48 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Puig wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for N. Petsalnikos after 75 minutes. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rulesz, with 57 percent of the ball.
