Rulesz 4 - 0 Woerkum

Clouds darkened the skies at The Honey Jar as 36411 spectators turned up for the match. Brisko Knapp was the appointed referee. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Rulesz formed up in a 3-5-2 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. Starters: Abbas - Hunkeler, Cioc, Koops - Kamp, Jegerings, Aguilar, Adam, Ciobanu - Habar, Puig.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Woerkum decided to go with a 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Stager - Öfverberg, Steeneveld, Guerreiro - Saarikivi, Meyer, Custers, Averdonk, Miatow - Weynen, Rees.

Rulesz took the lead 24 minutes in, after N. Kamp's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. Rulesz's V. Adam struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 31 minutes. A. Miatow was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but N. Rees seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. Rulesz's V. Ciobanu was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 3 - 0 after 35 minutes. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Rulesz lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Maybe L. Koops should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 37 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Rulesz were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 48 minutes on the clock after M. Weynen's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Woerkum player a yellow card though. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased Rulesz's lead to 4 - 0 as H. Jegerings finished it off clinically, firing the shot from a terrible angle. Rulesz's V. Ciobanu wanted to play on, but after 70 minutes the decision was made to give C. Hochreutener a chance in his place. The Rulesz players could smell victory in the air. J. Puig wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for N. Petsalnikos after 75 minutes. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Rulesz, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.

The most outstanding Rulesz player was without a doubt N. Petsalnikos. I can't remember Q. Abbas ever having a worse night than he just had. Woerkum's best player was M. Weynen. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because H. Stager seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 4 - 0.
