Supreme 3 - 3 Goudkust (374652170)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 50874 at Supreme Dome today. Gabriele Häller was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luis Anguita and Paco Osete. Supreme tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Vondel - Sas, Wapernaar, de Goey - Koelman, Burggraeve, Guijt, Wellerdieck - Froon, Peper, Starre.

Goudkust decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Fekete - Lazarević, Prijić, Kołodyński - Poujol, Ruttershausen, Bayerl, Benditz, Feijão - Cataldo, Kromkamp.

It was obvious that Supreme were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. Pressing was the tactic of the day for Goudkust. W. Froon gave Supreme the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 Supreme increased the lead as E. Burggraeve struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. After 29 minutes Supreme's D. Wapernaar contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. The pressing tactics used by Supreme were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Goudkust claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

The home crowd was silenced as P. Cataldo took a successful penalty shot 50 minutes into the game, reducing the home lead to 2 - 1. In the lead, Supreme adjusted their style of play with 58 minutes gone. After a short break after 58 minutes, Supreme seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. W. Kromkamp acted with superior experience when, 59 minutes into the match, he predicted a pass, intercepted it and then finished off with a goal. 2 - 2 for Goudkust! Goudkust's H. Benditz could have put the guests one up after 60 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but B. Vondel was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. Goudkust's L. Poujol gave the visitors a 2 - 3 lead after 65 minutes with a superb strike from the right. The crowd was on its feet 75 minutes into the match, as Supreme's W. Froon found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 3 - 3 equaliser. After 80 minutes, the Supreme coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving D. Guijt off the field. D. Kloosterboer took his place. 84 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Supreme substitution. G. Vrijens came on for W. Froon. Goudkust had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

Most important Supreme player was G. Vrijens. N. Wellerdieck was a disappointment, however. Goudkust's best player was H. Benditz. However, V. Prijić made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 3.
