Clouds darkened the skies at Phoenix Arena as 34488 spectators turned up for the match. David Beauvisage was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Torquil MacLeister and Klas Sunesson. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Phoenix1. The following players had been chosen: Daeseleer - Descheiver, Pasaulis, Bosman - Fauchald, Meyles, Löwik, Katlevičius, Christiansson - Henno, Frascella.

vrienden decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Klomp - Fevza, Koenderink, Slump - 涌番 (Yongfan) , Kolff, Janmaat, Loyolla - Węgorzewski, Epskamp, Haaksema.

vrienden clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. vrienden took the lead 16 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. J. Loyolla was the scorer. 29 minutes in, vrienden appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. The crowd roared in delight as D. Frascella finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Phoenix1 30 minutes into the match. 1 - 1. The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 34 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Phoenix1 fans erupted in celebration as R. Meyles rifled the ball into the the top corner. 2 - 1! After 39 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by N. Henno might have resulted in another goal for Phoenix1. However, J. Klomp made a spectacular save. Having turned the direction of play quickly, the vrienden counter attack ended as the ball carrier was brought down violently by a defender after 40 minutes. The resulting free kick was a flat shot into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and did not allow the opponents to reach the ball. Phoenix1 put in a good effort on the right, but N. Henno saw his volley fly wide of the mark 41 minutes into the game. Phoenix1's E. Löwik increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 42 minutes. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. Phoenix1 had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.

During the break, vrienden's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. vrienden fought on and, after 51 minutes, N. Węgorzewski was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. 78 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as T. Fauchald broke through, making the score 4 - 2 for Phoenix1. R. Meyles almost put Phoenix1 ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, R. Haaksema got himself booked. The manager of vrienden was not happy. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Phoenix1 scored another to make it 5 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for E. Löwik after 89 minutes. 89 minutes into the game, vrienden seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organisation. There was concern in the stands when, at the 89 minute mark, vrienden's 溫. 涌番 (Yongfan) hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. R. Meyles increased Phoenix1's lead to 6 - 2 with a penalty spot cannonball. The players of Phoenix1 now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Phoenix1 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.

Phoenix1's best player was R. Meyles. However, T. Fauchald made a disastrous appearance. vrienden's top performer was clearly H. Epskamp. On the other hand, N. Węgorzewski's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 2.
