With 35 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of ISIDE resulted in a counterattack that set A. Prössl free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. ISIDE came close to extending their lead as Y. Yiannoulakis delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 36 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Halftime score was 0 - 2. alkmaar enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

The alkmaar players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. With 50 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Y. Yiannoulakis of ISIDE to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3.
