YW mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Many thought K. Mooijman got himself booked for a foul. P. Roli was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Zlatan's E. Ahltorp had to come off the bench. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to K. Kannegieter, but the YW player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! 39 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as M. Damar broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for YW. 42 minutes in, YW's K. Aalbers received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Zlatan's J. Orlando went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. After 44 minutes Zlatan's A. Witman limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by YW, with 63 percent of the ball.

Coming in from the right, Zlatan had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 51 minutes, but E. Hispano's attempt to finish was easily stopped. YW put in a good effort on the right, but S. van Sonsbeek saw his volley fly wide of the mark 75 minutes into the game. 76 minutes into the game, Zlatan's attack got through on the right, but J. José couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. Possession in this half belonged to YW, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.

K. Kannegieter performed admirably for YW. L. Raatgever turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Zlatan player was E. Hispano. H. Reinkemeyer on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 0.
