This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when G. Bourguignon slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against M. Mos, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. The guests almost went up by a goal after 10 minutes when E. Soupidis came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. The guests took the lead 15 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in I. Wentholt scoring to make it 0 - 1. vvva's B. Števanja left the field after 16 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was L. Roevers. L. Roevers received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 18 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The vvva fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The visitors' F. Bourgade took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 27 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for vvva. By now, the players in vvva felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. It was 0 - 3 at the break. vvva enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 81 percent of possession.

After 56 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for E. Soupidis who increased vvva's lead to 0 - 4. L. De Borger received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 59 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. D. Schweitzer increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 5. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Bourguignon from vvva a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 73 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! vvva increased their lead after 74 minutes when J. Valldeoriola broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 6, much to the home crowd's dismay. vvva increased the lead to 0 - 7 as G. Bourguignon scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. 79 minutes in, vvva's E. Soupidis received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. S. Wielaard was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Marijenkampen's D. Deetman had to come off the bench. K. Munk of vvva took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 83 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 8. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by vvva, with 84 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Marijenkampen player was without a doubt K. Letschert. S. Cerfontaine on the other hand, had a terrible day. vvva's top performer was clearly K. Munk. L. Roevers turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 8.
