Clear skies welcomed the 18261 spectators who had made their way to
bee-dome.
Antoine Guérin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jannik Gössling and
Oswald Seebach.
BTL started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Becquaert - Elijzen, Blankendaal, Ekenmo, Belan - Troio, Lappalainen, Kaldrup, Rocha Almeida - Mangels, Weisz.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Alfa Col.
Lineup: Waeleman - Breteler, Kievit, Grabowski, van Wijk - Stijger, Overgaag, Adema - Grondman, Cransveld, Hammer.
Alfa Col showed off their creative tactics.
C. Becquaert looked great 6 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors'
D. Stijger.
BTL's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 7 minutes gone, but
V. Rocha Almeida's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
BTL fans held their breath as
K. Weisz scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
The corner kick from
T. Mangels was powerfully met by the head of
V. Rocha Almeida to make the score 2 - 0.
G. Belan could have increased the lead after 22 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
24 minutes into the match Alfa Col's
R. Overgaag viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
BTL enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
Coming in on the left,
G. Cransveld did everything right to get a goal for Alfa Col after 51 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper.
After 60 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
T. Mangels gave the BTL supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0.
C. Elijzen unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of BTL to 4 - 0 as
K. Kaldrup finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
After this, you could see that the players of BTL were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
BTL put themselves up 5 - 0 when
T. Mangels broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
BTL claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
The most dominating BTL player was without a doubt
P. Ekenmo.
C. Becquaert turned in a dismal performance, however.
Alfa Col's best player was
S. Grondman.
G. Breteler on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 5 - 0.
