Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Wigam FC Colisseum saw a crowd turnout of 60055. Klaas-Jan Pieron was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Håkan Bredstrand and Ola Hjertkvist. Wigam started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The wings were the focus of most of Wigam's attacks today. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when J. Iztueta slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against G. Mărunţelu, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Wigam had to make a substitution after 30 minutes. R. Waltenspiel limped off the field and was replaced by T. Forsberg. GKS-V's R. Milot got himself booked for a foul. Wigam's G. Chiotis went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. Slack defending gave Wigam a chance to take the lead with 40 minutes played, but A. Platts's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. The guests took the lead 43 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in N. Ntalakas scoring to make it 0 - 1. Halftime score was 0 - 1. GKS-V enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

Wigam needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes J. Moreno made way for R. Duncan. The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed Wigam's coach gave G. van der Pas the opportunity the player had been hoping for. A. Platts reluctantly left the field. After 80 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed A. Leo to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2. J. Iztueta came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over G. Mărunţelu but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. After 82 minutes GKS-V's N. Ntalakas limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Wigam's G. Kehrli managed a superb strike from the left after 83 minutes that would have left goalkeeper M. Lockhart without a chance, had it not hit the post. H. Thepkanjana was, after 85 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper G. Mărunţelu made the save. 86 minutes in, Wigam's G. van der Pas received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. G. van der Pas remonstrated furiously with the referee after Wigam had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch. After 88 minutes, following yet another great corner, G. Kehrli's flick on at the near post reached T. Verdeja, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. Wigam claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Wigam's best player was R. Baliarda. G. Chiotis on the other hand, had a terrible day. GKS-V's top performer was clearly J. Iztueta. N. Ntalakas turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
