29602 spectators had found their way to
Poleiro do Galo (VTNC RANDOM!!!), despite the heavy rain.
Matti Laitonen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alfonso Bausa Lopez and
Valentin Mogos.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Doido.
The following players took the field: Čulkstēns - Kirilenko, Nilsen, Tsikhmeystruk - Rousseau, Tino, Garanhão, Timmerman, Ališevičius - Muzychenko, Murariu.
Goleada tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Aguiar - Szmigiel, Revuelta, Hrabina - Dullak, Bettetini, Kurzweil, Mortensen, Farbák - Albariño, Kasserini.
Doido were very close to putting themselves one up after 3 minutes as
N. Tino got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
Doido took the lead 18 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
V. Muzychenko elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
The Goleada players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
G. Bettetini from Goleada a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 20 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
V. Muzychenko unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
The corner kick from
M. Kirilenko was powerfully met by the head of
I. Murariu to make the score 2 - 0.
2 - 0 was the halftime score.
Doido claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
M. Kirilenko showed great heart and had a good game.
With 60 minutes played, Doido put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
M. Timmerman, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Confident in their lead, Doido's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
N. Tino did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
After 70 minutes,
D. Albariño replied with a fantastic free kick and the ball went in off the bar. 3 - 1.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
R. Farbák. At last, Goleada's
L. Dullak was able to backheel the ball in. 3 - 2.
77 minutes into the game Goleada's
A. Szmigiel found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 3 - 3.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Goleada, with 51 percent of the ball.
Doido's top performer was clearly
I. Murariu.
However,
P. Nilsen made a disastrous appearance.
C. Kurzweil performed admirably for Goleada.
A. Szmigiel on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 3.
