Dragones 1 - 6 MLDS1989 (376436406)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 14478 to Enygma Arena. Oswald Bruchmühlen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kurt Rask and Petar Parić. Dragones tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Quilagüy - Aljure, Loaiza, Abuchaibe, Argote - Candelo, Rodríguez, Callejas, Moreno - Millán, Barrera.

MLDS1989 decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. They fielded: Lorinc - Chacón, Miura, Cachay, Sarmiento - Rátiva, Compagni, Iriondo, López - Manrique, Álvarez.

MLDS1989's A. Álvarez left the field after 2 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was J. Aranzalez. J. Callejas was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Dragones's F. Abuchaibe managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 1 - 0 After 32 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after J. Aranzalez made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, R. Chacón got himself booked. The manager of MLDS1989 was not happy. With 38 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. C. López put the ball away for 1 - 2. After 40 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed R. Miura to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 3. After 41 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave R. Chacón a chance to increase the lead for MLDS1989, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 4. Halftime score was 1 - 4. MLDS1989 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.

F. Abuchaibe enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. R. Chacón increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 5. At this point, it was obvious that the players of MLDS1989 lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. C. Manrique received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 69 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 6. The MLDS1989 fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by MLDS1989, with 71 percent of the ball.

Dragones's top performer was clearly A. Moreno. O. Quilagüy turned in a dismal performance, however. C. Manrique performed admirably for MLDS1989. On the other hand, J. Aranzalez's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 6.
