The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 33334 had shown up at
Cancha de la Cuarta for the match.
Thomas Taylor was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sjoerd Hoogendoorn and
Darren Dwars.
A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Deportivo.
The following players took the field: Sarache - 存佑 (Cunyou), Ciancio, Ricciardi, Cabrera, Silva - Acuña, Salcedo, Barreto - Lospinoso, Arbeitman.
Sierrar tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
Lineup: Erosa - Soares, Ramírez, van Panhuis - Duchini, 祥靖 (Xiangjing), Brauneck, Erdanç - Sosa, Fernández, Ramos.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Deportivo.
Sierrar mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
The counterattack by Deportivo resulted in a free kick that
R. Barreto bent under the crossbar - 1 - 0!
Sierrar were close to putting the equaliser away after 17 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to
B. Ramos in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line.
The counterattacks of Deportivo were deadly and 18 minutes into the game,
A. Arbeitman received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 0.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Sierrar had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
49 minutes in,
B. Ramos made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
F. Sarache refused to let the ball slip by him.
59 minutes into the game Deportivo managed a counterattack, but
P. Lospinoso took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
60 minutes into the game, Deportivo's
A. Ricciardi surprised the visitors with a raking cross-field pass to
P. Lospinoso who easily found the back of the net, making the score 3 - 0.
The players of Deportivo now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 65 minute mark, Sierrar's
O. Duchini hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
L. Ramírez could've grabbed a goal for Sierrar 73 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation.
Sierrar claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Deportivo's best player was
F. Sarache.
F. Silva on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating Sierrar player was without a doubt
A. Brauneck.
On the other hand,
O. Duchini's play was disheartening.
The match ends 3 - 0.
