previous 6/10 next 8/10  mayo! 3 - 0 Neapolis (377473874)

Clouds darkened the skies at la 10! as 2868 spectators turned up for the match. Huub Baremans was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Rickard C. Gustavsson and Edvard Päiväkumpu. mayo! started off with a 3-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Simeoni - Zabuski, Yacumal, Iachetti - Carrasco, Runck, Lojo, Valitov - Gil, Rodygin.

Neapolis decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. They fielded: Simonetti - Griesbach, van Harmelen, Buryakovskiy, Cristante - Evrensel, Crombie, Faltorp, Azzoni, Hoeller - Rampone.

5 minutes into the game, mayo! seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. After 7 minutes of play, N. Runck gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Neapolis's A. Evrensel was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 25 minutes. D. Lee was given a chance to change things around. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 31 minutes, M. Rampone broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. S. Simeoni made a great block, though. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Neapolis, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

During the break, mayo!'s coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organisation. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. A. Rodygin squirmed through their central defence after 58 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. The coach of mayo! was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 71 minutes, P. Alzamendi came on for A. Rodygin. mayo! increased the lead as A. Gil struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. At this point, it was obvious that the players of mayo! lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Content with how the game was proceeding, the mayo! coach let I. Botín Descalzo replace D. Valitov after 75 minutes. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, H. Lojo took over the role of being the mayo! captain. 78 minutes into the match Neapolis's M. Faltorp head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately. P. Yacumal unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. mayo! enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

mayo!'s top performer was clearly A. Gil. P. Yacumal was a disappointment, however. Neapolis's best player was A. Cristante. On the other hand, R. van Harmelen's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 0.
