A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 972 to
Pythons Arena.
Ben Massenbach was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kai Elendt and
Rinus Hartsinck.
BPU tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
Lineup: Bączyk - Žáčko, Riber, Angell, Hultblom - Narvarte, MacSween, Amstein, Quéguiner - Meléndez, Sánchez Rubio.
CSBJ started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Guillet - Gachon, Duhaut, Fedoskov, Guillard - Aouadhi, Puget, Drieux, Bulak, Dória - Bourez.
Today, BPU's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
After 25 minutes, BPU were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
P. Quéguiner did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
BPU's
K. Angell got himself booked for a foul.
32 minutes into the match, CSBJ nearly took the lead, as
S. Bourez broke through on the right.
M. Bączyk made the save, however.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Y. Duhaut got himself booked. The manager of CSBJ was not happy.
Halftime score was 0 - 0.
BPU claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
After 55 minutes, CSBJ put themselves up 0 - 1, as
Y. Drieux finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
57 minutes into the game,
A. MacSween had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
T. Alexandrov.
T. Alexandrov was the new captain of BPU - handed the armband by the departing player.
The referee showed BPU's
J. Narvarte the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
66 minutes in, and BPU were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when
J. Meléndez picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper.
CSBJ's
T. Puget was shown a yellow card after 69 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Some great play up the middle by BPU led to a chance for
J. Meléndez to score after 70 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
BPU had a chance to take the lead after
I. Sánchez Rubio's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 76 minutes.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by BPU, with 61 percent of the ball.
BPU's best player was
T. Alexandrov.
M. Bączyk on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important CSBJ player was
H. Aouadhi.
However,
P. Guillet made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 1.
