Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
PCR FC International Arena saw a crowd turnout of 68571.
Janne Kytö was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Vladimir Renders and
Remy Scharpenberg.
Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this
Bogotá derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents.
PCR decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Bensouda - Zullinger, Beeckman, Tobón - Portillo, Rembert, Heil, Echeberría, Guillemant - Ravagnin, Estupiñán.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Chelsea.
They fielded: Tzintzarski - Griffith, Almenning, Carrington - Zizler, Sánchez, Knispel, Ferrer, Carrio - Capasso, Duma.
Today, PCR's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks.
With 7 minutes played, Chelsea's
I. Sánchez missed an opportunity to put his team one up from the penalty spot, later claiming that "the floodlights blinded him".
PCR fans held their breath as
R. Estupiñán scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
The visitors refused to give in and, after 32 minutes,
E. Zizler evened things up as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 1 - 1
1 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Chelsea claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the PCR coach decided it was time for a substitution.
J. Echeberría reluctantly made way for
A. Valencia on the pitch.
With 60 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
G. Duma put the ball away for 1 - 2.
70 minutes in, Chelsea's
W. Ferrer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
After 72 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
J. Carrio a chance to increase the lead for Chelsea, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3.
Confident in their lead, Chelsea's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Chelsea increased the lead to 1 - 4 as
I. Sánchez scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner.
Chelsea's
E. Zizler placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but
V. Almenning couldn't finish.
75 minutes into the match,
F. Capasso came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
With 77 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
E. Zizler of Chelsea to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 5.
The crowd groaned when
E. Beeckman, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to reduce the deficit for PCR.
Possession in this half belonged to Chelsea, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
The most dominating PCR player was without a doubt
R. Estupiñán.
On the other hand,
A. Bensouda's play was disheartening.
Chelsea's best player was
F. Capasso.
However,
J. Carrio made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 5.
