2500 fans braved the pouring rain at Michael Wittmann. Luca Aliberti was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Reiner Mittner and Martin Porse. Our studio analysts were correct. Atlantis has taken the field in a 3-5-2 alignment. The following players had been selected: Povlsen - Hodor, Reithmaier, Telepovský - Boglea, Neagu, Hausner, Patton, Atquet - Schenkhuizen, Dragschitz.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, swissmade decided to go with a 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Pilot - Gavarró, Gjelsten, Kubalek - Meng, Hollenbach, Gélin, Lorch - Shovkoplias, Eisenhauer, Gomes.

swissmade used their magnificent ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. With 23 minutes played, M. Telepovský came in from the right with the intention of giving Atlantis the lead, but his rocket of a shot could only rattle the crossbar. A. Shovkoplias came close to putting the visiting team one up 24 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but D. Povlsen managed to tip the ball over. A bit of trash talk erupted into a fight as players from both sides congregated in the center of the field 25 minutes into the match. After separating the two sides, the referee and his linesman discussed the scurrilous chain of events - this eventually led to the referee calling Atlantis's I. Hodor to one side and giving him a straight red card. Atlantis made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left F. Hausner completely alone with keeper G. Pilot, who made a spectacular block. 34 minutes into the game, swissmade had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to wretched. After 38 minutes, Atlantis's D. Povlsen wobbled like a one-legged man on Bourbon Street at Mardi Gras, but he's determined to stay in the match. He's a real fighter! The game had been going for 41 minutes when M. Telepovský came in on the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to put away the 1 - 0 goal, giving Atlantis the lead. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Atlantis would have 68 percent possession in this half was spot on!

swissmade's coach went over the strategy again during the break, and after that his players had inadequate organization. With 46 minutes played, the swissmade coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. X. Baehni came on and G. Lorch had to leave the fray. The slippery field made speedy runs nearly impossible, which hampered S. Boglea in particular. After 50 minutes, B. Dragschitz put Atlantis ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. The home side's F. Schenkhuizen twisted a free kick home with 60 minutes played, putting Atlantis ahead 3 - 0. After this, you could see that Atlantis's players were mostly interested in killing time and holding on to their lead. swissmade needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 67 minutes E. Eisenhauer made way for S. Polston. swissmade's M. Hollenbach was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 77 minutes. After 89 minutes swissmade's U. Gélin contracted a slight foot injury, but said he could still finish the game. 89 minutes into the game, swissmade seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organization. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Atlantis, with an impressive 61 percent possession of the ball.

F. Hausner performed admirably for Atlantis. I can't remember C. Patton ever having a worse night than he just had. swissmade's best player was S. Polston. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because M. Hollenbach seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 3 - 0.
