Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 2915 to Salgueiros Arena. Yonah Koot was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ueli Binggeli and Maurycy Kobierski. Salgueiros tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Rosa - Grosso, Afonso Marques, Leste - Nunes, Belchior, Lehmpfuhl, Orive, Karlhult - Morgado, Alves Cunha.

It was an obvious ambition of Salgueiros to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. The guests took the lead 2 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in S. Verstraete scoring to make it 0 - 1. Salgueiros put pressure on the visitors' central defence 24 minutes into the game, but U. Lehmpfuhl couldn't find an opening. 30 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as L. Magnussen finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Players in Salgueiros heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. Salgueiros's F. Leste found himself alone on the left side 33 minutes into the match and laid down a perfect shot - right into the arms of the keeper! After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, S. Verstraete got himself booked. The manager of Surprising was not happy. After the ball was lifted in from the left, P. Gallin was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 36 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. M. Nunes almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. T. Antonijević finished off the counterattack of Surprising from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 3. 0 - 3 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Surprising, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

Some fine movement on the left led to a Surprising goal after 64 minutes, making it 0 - 4. L. Magnussen was noted down as the scorer. By now, the players in Surprising felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Salgueiros were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. The visitors' T. Nyhuus took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 71 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Surprising. 77 minutes in, Surprising's T. Rønning received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave V. Grosso from Salgueiros a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 81 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Surprising claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

M. Karlhult performed admirably for Salgueiros. F. Leste was a disappointment, however. Surprising's best player was T. Nyhuus. H. Stranzl on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 5.
