STB 8 - 1 Hetman

The 3139 fans in attendance at Gloriam Arena were roasting in the hot sun. Jan Bauer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aureliano Maldonado and Constancio Ortega. STB tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Schille-Protze - Styopin, Garrido - Filipenko, Waardenburg, Kurys, Kłodawski, Annenkov - Vackor, Dimitrov, Stevanella.

Hetman decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players took the field: Popescu - Racki, Kubiszewski - Graz, Szynalski, Utterborn, Alberich, Bernuy - Miadzielec, Le Bret, Fituch.

Hetman clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. After 2 minutes, R. Annenkov came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving STB the lead. Things were deteriorating for the away team as STB scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for R. Annenkov after 7 minutes. STB increased the lead as R. Annenkov struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. This third goal completed a hattrick for R. Annenkov. After 15 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Hetman found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to solid. K. Vackor's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence. E. Kubiszewski of Hetman received a yellow card after 37 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, K. Vackor got himself booked. The manager of STB was not happy. STB put themselves up 4 - 0 when R. Annenkov broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. 41 minutes in, Hetman appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. It was 4 - 0 at the break. STB had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

The Hetman players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. With 47 minutes played, STB put themselves up 5 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to I. Garrido, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The players of STB now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The corner kick from R. Annenkov was powerfully met by the head of I. Dimitrov to make the score 6 - 0. 56 minutes into the game, Hetman seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player J. Alberich reduced the lead to make it 6 - 1 after 66 minutes, following a pass from the right. I. Garrido increased the lead for STB to 7 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! 81 minutes into the game, Hetman seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organisation. STB managed to extend their lead to 8 - 1 when M. Kurys cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. STB enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

STB's best player was K. Filipenko. O. Schille-Protze turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Hetman player was without a doubt R. Popescu. M. Bernuy was a disappointment, however. The match ends 8 - 1.
