The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 3400 had shown up at Stierkampf Arena for the match. Ulf Strömland was the appointed referee. Stieregrinde tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. Lineup: Rottmann - Mauntler, Rouyer - Derose, Kaysel, Menzer, Veitschegger, Minder - Pons, Dujoux, Schnurrenberger.

Brugse decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players had been chosen: Ergün - Van Varenbergh, Kaenel, Cappuyns, Francotte - Løvgren, Stenger, Smedsrud, Alí, Rubio - Ferrón.

For their match strategy, Stieregrinde had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. 14 minutes into the game, P. Van Varenbergh was a hair's breadth away from giving Brugse the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by H. Rottmann saved the home team that time. Good work by the Stieregrinde defensive line after 15 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found T. Menzer alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. J. Lassine was called on to replace Brugse's M. Løvgren after 25 minutes following a nasty collision. Given a free kick close to the byline, Stieregrinde tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let S. Dujoux slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 0, 32 minutes into the game. With 41 minutes played, Stieregrinde put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to T. Menzer, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. After this, you could see that the players of Stieregrinde were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. P. Rouyer increased the lead for Stieregrinde to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Brugse's C. Ferrón got himself booked for a foul. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. Stieregrinde claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

The bench was restless, and with 75 minutes passed Brugse's coach gave R. Zanobi the opportunity the player had been hoping for. C. Ferrón reluctantly left the field. Brugse needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 75 minutes H. Stenger made way for M. Loit. The head of J. Mauntler connected with a corner kick after 83 minutes, and the ball ended up with J. Veitschegger of Stieregrinde who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 4 - 0. Stieregrinde put themselves up 5 - 0 when S. Minder broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. After 88 minutes, F. Pons put Stieregrinde ahead 6 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Brugse's A. Rubio somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for R. Zanobi, who struck for 6 - 1. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Stieregrinde to 7 - 1 as J. Mauntler finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Possession in this half belonged to Stieregrinde, who controlled the ball 71 percent of the time.

Most important Stieregrinde player was S. Dujoux. On the other hand, H. Rottmann's play was disheartening. Brugse's best player was R. Zanobi. P. Smedsrud was a disappointment, however. The match ends 7 - 1.
