1466 spectators arrived at Sen o Warszawie, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Armando van Binsbergen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Peter Schindler and Mauro Domínguez. A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Contownia. Starters: Kołodziej - Bączyk, Ryszka, Strandbeck, Trześniewski - Forslind, Kozodoy, Jaśkowiec - Tieman, Heiss, Brinker.

Deportivo tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Okuniewicz - Patskevich, Kostaniak, Stodolski - Stodolski, Cervià, Hofstetter, Stodolski - Eldarov, Stojadinov, Abdijalilov.

The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave A. Ryszka from Contownia a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 18 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A mistake by the home side's central defence after 23 minutes allowed C. Eldarov to score for Deportivo. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. The crowd roared in delight as E. Trześniewski finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Contownia 33 minutes into the match. 1 - 1. Contownia's M. Brinker was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 34 minutes. Deportivo's J. Stodolski was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - C. Eldarov managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 2 after 36 minutes. After 39 minutes of play, R. Tieman evened things up for Contownia with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 2 - 2. R. Tieman caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 42 minutes. This gave Contownia the 3 - 2 lead. It was 3 - 2 at the break. Contownia claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

64 minutes into the game, Contownia seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. Deportivo were close to putting the equaliser away after 71 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to E. Abdijalilov in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line. Deportivo's E. Abdijalilov was shown a yellow card after 73 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Unfortunately for Contownia, W. Kołodziej was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. P. Zgrajek replaced him. Contownia's R. Tieman had an excellent opportunity after 75 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! After 81 minutes Contownia's M. Heiss limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Contownia managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when J. Strandbeck cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. The referee showed Deportivo's G. Hofstetter the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. When R. Tieman left the game because of a back injury after 87 minutes, Contownia had to continue a man short due to there being no available replacements. A great save by keeper W. Okuniewicz after 88 minutes kept the visitors in the game after M. Brinker struck from the left with a real cannonball. Contownia had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

Contownia's top performer was clearly H. Jaśkowiec. P. Bączyk turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Deportivo player was without a doubt C. Eldarov. W. Okuniewicz on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.
