It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 51500 that came out to De Heksenketel. Leif Sand was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Konstantin Schwalbach and Aldopaolo Arno. Toverdrank decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players had been selected: Augustyns - Canovas, Laichmann - Cîrnaţ, Goovaarts, van der Water, van Rijs, Gunnarsson - Schopman, Kleppa, Inga.

Foreburgh started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Starters: Stannek - Dănilă, Hrelja, Pöyhönen, Torres, Jünke - Salomons, Palmans, Maier - Johnson, Wu Han.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Foreburgh. 2 minutes into the match, Foreburgh's J. Johnson demonstrated his running prowess as he raced past his defender and passed the ball to L. Wu Han who chipped it in for 0 - 1. The incalculable A. Schopman of Toverdrank did everything right as he set up R. Inga for a goal after 6 minutes. Unfortunately, the strike missed its target. No matter how hard he tried, A. Schopman just couldn't get past the visitors' right side defense 26 minutes in and eventually the ball was cleared away. After 37 minutes, E. Kleppa went down looking for a penalty after a challenge on the left side of the box, but the referee told him to get up and keep playing. With 38 minutes gone, B. Salomons suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counter-attack by Foreburgh caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. Foreburgh's J. Torres was shown a yellow card after 41 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, G. Canovas of Toverdrank spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Due to some great work on the right wing Toverdrank's E. Kleppa was able to even the score 44 minutes in to 1 - 1. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Toverdrank's R. Inga got himself booked. With 44 minutes played M. Cîrnaţ almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. With 44 minutes gone, a long pass from the defense of Foreburgh resulted in a counter-attack that set L. Jünke free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Toverdrank's R. van Rijs tried to break through the middle repeatedly, but the visitors' defenders were just too alert. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Toverdrank set the tempo, maintaining 74 percent of possession.

Foreburgh's counter-attacks created a good chance for P. Maier on the right after 70 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. After 72 minutes Foreburgh tried to use their counter-attacking skills. Unfortunately, A. Pöyhönen's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. Toverdrank could have put themselves ahead after 73 minutes but G. Canovas mishit a volley on a ball coming in from the right. With 81 minutes gone, Toverdrank's organization began to suffer due to a lack of experience. There was concern in the stands when, at the 85 minute mark, Foreburgh's K. Stannek hit the ground hard, but with the help of the trainer's magic spray, he rejoined his teammates on the field. With 87 minutes played, Foreburgh's A. Pöyhönen limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Toverdrank were doing a good job holding on to the ball, with 70 percent of possession.

As neither team was able to score a late winner, the teams took to the field again for extra time. During the break, Toverdrank's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organization. Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field with 100 minutes played resulted in goal by R. Inga for Toverdrank, putting them ahead 2 - 1. With that Toverdrank had won the game in extra time. Toverdrank's best player was R. Inga. G. Canovas was a disappointment, however. Most important Foreburgh player was M. Palmans. S. Dănilă on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 1.
