(378369935)

18-04-2012 17.25
A scorching day at
Het Vossenhol, where 1349 spectators were in place for today's match.
Alexandru Alexandrescu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ruprecht Thalmeier and
Lodewijk de Rover.
Doorn had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Dutilh - Rosa, Sajtár, Catalano - Starović, Lemaire, Malysse, Bren, Caelders - Deaconu, Natola.
Poeta decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
They fielded: Morisse - Corsi, Loewner, Gozefoort - Faundes, Gagnon, Fornasieri, Zamorski - Maci, Eisenacker, Meierich.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Poeta.
Doorn's
N. Lemaire tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
12 minutes into the game,
M. Maci finished off a Poeta left wing counterattack, making the score 0 - 1.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
W. Rosa should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Poeta a goal with 17 minutes of the match played.
With 29 minutes having been played, Doorn scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but
N. Starović was marked down as the scorer.
After 33 minutes of play, the free-spirited
B. Eisenacker decided to go for goal as he struck the ball from the corner of the pitch. The ball hit a defender in the face and bounced out of play.
With the clock showing 35 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Doorn resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
J. Malysse in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
Poeta's counterattacks created a good chance for
S. Loewner on the right after 39 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
1 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Doorn, who controlled the ball 81 percent of the time.
After 46 minutes, the Doorn coach made a sign to
W. Caelders, who soon changed positions with
R. Bren.
Doorn made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
G. Natola completely alone with keeper
B. Morisse, who made a spectacular block.
A questionable penalty 56 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 2 - 1. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as
J. Malysse knocked the ball home.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Doorn to 3 - 1 as
W. Caelders finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
A well placed corner kick from
J. Malysse was followed by
R. Bren's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Doorn, the score now 4 - 1.
The players of Doorn now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Doorn's
Ş. Deaconu had an excellent opportunity after 67 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
Doorn had most of the ball, with 81 percent of possession.
Doorn's top performer was clearly
A. Catalano.
However,
N. Starović made a disastrous appearance.
M. Maci performed admirably for Poeta.
On the other hand,
S. Loewner's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 1.
