The crowd of 2893 turning up at
AS Beer Leżajsk Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Stephan Beerkircher was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Raigo Pärn and
Marc Vasseur.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Leżajsk.
Lineup: Satalecki - Koncewicz, Zapart - Bissoli, Bezhenar, Cajot, Vegal, Lario Oñate - Helbo, Peronard, Friberg.
Rangekhoon started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Pricop - Cuppens, Giunta, Rosenø, Varchi - Caso, Mórocz, Ershad, Esrafilian - 弘晖 (Honghui) , Quasters.
Rangekhoon saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 11 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
V. Bezhenar, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
A. Helbo had a fantastic opportunity to put Leżajsk up another goal 18 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
A. Mórocz was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
The Leżajsk free kick 29 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
J. Friberg, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 0!
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Leżajsk lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Mórocz from Rangekhoon a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 31 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Leżajsk were forced into a substitution as
D. Cajot couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
B. Vörösmarty to come in off the bench.
Cheers filled the stadium as
A. Bissoli broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Leżajsk.
After 34 minutes, Leżajsk were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
J. Friberg did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
With the clock showing 35 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Rangekhoon resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
G. Rosenø in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
With 37 minutes played,
D. Esrafilian of Rangekhoon fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Halftime score was 3 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Leżajsk, with 74 percent of the ball.
After 46 minutes, Rangekhoon switched
P. Ershad with
H. Sahraei, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Leżajsk put in a good effort on the right, but
G. Vegal saw his volley fly wide of the mark 47 minutes into the game.
D. Caso was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Rangekhoon's
C. Varchi was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 58 minutes.
K. Kurtov was given a chance to change things around.
The bench was restless, and with 61 minutes passed Rangekhoon's coach gave
A. Ardameh the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
M. Cuppens reluctantly left the field.
63 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
S. Peronard broke through, making the score 4 - 0 for Leżajsk.
71 minutes in, Rangekhoon's
A. Ardameh received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
J. Friberg squirmed through their central defence after 72 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 0.
77 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when Rangekhoon's
A. Ardameh received his second yellow card and was sent off.
With 80 minutes played,
G. Vegal could have brought this one home for Leżajsk as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Leżajsk solidified their lead at the 82 minute mark, as
B. Vörösmarty dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 6 - 0.
Leżajsk had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.
A. Helbo performed admirably for Leżajsk.
S. Koncewicz was a disappointment, however.
Rangekhoon's best player was
H. Sahraei.
I. Pricop on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 6 - 0.
