It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1176 that came out to Il Tempio. Marcos Luciano Vitali was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Paulo Cernadas and Thor Tjøsvoll. Poeira gave Athletic the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 It was a fine day for E. Mansilla on his wing, his cross pass to G. Murena was especially delicate 12 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. After 14 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by M. Galluccio might have resulted in another goal for Athletic. However, N. Ranita made a spectacular save. G. Battista behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 22 minutes as he gave the ball away to L. Cacicia. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Clarcus had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

Still trailing on the score board, Clarcus adjusted their tactics after 46 minutes. T. Frankena had a quick chat at the side line, then switched positions with D. Pedro. Clarcus's right side looked dangerous 60 minutes in, but A. Speranti made a good save on G. Murena's hard shot to the top corner. After 61 minutes, Athletic surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, P. Folini got himself booked. The manager of Athletic was not happy. It wasn't a good day at all for E. Mansilla. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. Athletic's P. Folini increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 85 minutes. Possession in this half belonged to Clarcus, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Most important Athletic player was G. Battista. R. Poeira on the other hand, had a terrible day. G. Murena performed admirably for Clarcus. A. Hanekamp turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
