The 2936 spectators at Grichzly Cave were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Gentlemen prefer blondes and Grichzly prefers a 2-5-3. Let's see how this plays out for them. They fielded: Sezzi - Virtanen, Agerskov - Erlin, Giessen, Hemmes, Reszka, Retka - Bel, Sârca, Taioli.

Our studio analysts were correct. Galiano has taken the field in a 3-5-2 alignment. Lineup: Trachanas - Olivia, Hollingsworth, Ben-Yossef - Valdimarsson, Ellertsson, Bobrovský, Silverell, Karakurt - Cellar, Brüggen.

Galiano went for a narrow approach, using their magnificent ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Galiano had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 3 minutes in when G. Cellar found himself alone with E. Sezzi who managed a block. A mistake by the home side's central defense after 4 minutes allowed B. Valdimarsson to score for Galiano. The visitors have the lead, 0 - 1. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Galiano's H. Brüggen got himself booked. Galiano's G. Cellar was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 6 minutes. It was obvious that Galiano had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. A thrilling play through the middle after 9 minutes gave Galiano's H. Brüggen a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 2. By now, the players of Galiano felt that victory was a sure thing and began to play it safe, focusing on defense and not risking too much going forward. Galiano's K. Silverell received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 19 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 3. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! The Galiano free kick 31 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - A. Olivia seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 0 - 4! It was 0 - 4 at the break. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Galiano had 70...70 percent possession. AH AH AH!

After 52 minutes, Galiano's B. Valdimarsson burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5. Grichzly's coach was furious with B. Retka after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. G. Cellar somehow managed to break free of his man on the left wing and only needed a relatively easy finish to bring Galiano's lead up to 0 - 6. After 69 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed M. Hollingsworth to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 7. Some things can only be learned through experience, and M. Hollingsworth should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Grichzly a goal after 70 minutes. The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as B. Valdimarsson put one through the keeper's legs. 0 - 8 after 72 minutes. That made three goals for B. Valdimarsson. He'll be taking the match ball home with him having scored a hattrick! Galiano players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 75 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for D. Bobrovský who increased Galiano's lead to 0 - 9. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Galiano would have 74 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Grichzly's top performer was clearly R. Taioli. Good thing E. Sezzi isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Galiano's best player was D. Bobrovský. I can't remember A. Ellertsson ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 0 - 9.
