The 3012 spectators at
San Vito were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Ignace Blois was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Patrik Forsman and
Håkan Eriksson.
Vallatese tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
Starters: Pappalardo - Quaglietta, Messana, Kjørstad, Mazzolo - Krasnopolski, Tagliaferri, Corghi, Cardia, Takač - Irrera.
OLIFLIP decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Borselli - van Jole, Rodriguez, Bordoni, Gaglione - Giler, Bassewitz, Bathers, Brotto - Buscarinu, Faria.
OLIFLIP showed off their creative tactics.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 19 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
L. Mazzolo, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
D. Takač should probably have put his team up another goal after 36 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
P. Borselli kept the visitors in the game.
38 minutes in, Vallatese appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
wretched.
Vallatese put themselves up 2 - 0 when
M. Cardia broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
OLIFLIP's
L. Rodriguez got himself booked for a foul.
44 minutes into the game, Vallatese were awarded a penalty that
R. Kjørstad turned into 3 - 0 without a problem.
M. Brotto's speed was clear to see after 44 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released
J. Faria who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 3 - 1.
M. Buscarinu of OLIFLIP received a yellow card after 44 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
R. Kjørstad increased Vallatese's lead to 4 - 1 with a penalty spot cannonball.
After this, you could see that the players of Vallatese were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 1.
Possession in this half belonged to Vallatese, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Vallatese was able to get his message across, and raised Vallatese's organisation to
passable.
P. Tagliaferri of Vallatese seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 5 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
R. Kjørstad.
Vallatese's
M. Cardia increased the lead to 6 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 63 minutes.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, OLIFLIP's
M. Brotto was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 66 minutes.
J. Curtis was given a chance to change things around.
With 70 minutes played, the OLIFLIP coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
P. Guyton came on,
G. Giler had to leave the fray.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Vallatese coach let
P. Mugnaini replace
M. Quaglietta after 75 minutes.
L. Mazzolo wanted to play on, but the Vallatese coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 75 minutes into the game by
R. Ahumada.
B. Bathers wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat.
With 82 minutes played, Vallatese put themselves up 7 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
M. Irrera, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 83 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Vallatese's
S. Krasnopolski to one side and produced a red card for the player.
Vallatese's
R. Ahumada saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 84 minutes.
P. Tagliaferri of Vallatese was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Vallatese, with 69 percent of the ball.
Most important Vallatese player was
M. Irrera.
P. Mugnaini was a disappointment, however.
OLIFLIP's top performer was clearly
M. Buscarinu.
However,
P. Borselli made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 7 - 1.
