The crowd of 739 turning up at
Ceraino Stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Andres Mathias was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Peter Jovanovic and
Christian Tessier.
Ceraino started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
They fielded: Di Lonardo - Pătraşcu, Carrasquero, Costa Matias, Alcaide - Korka, Bayul, Leguen, Bucur - Quintavalla, Frappampina.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for ghe(ss).
The following players took the field: Konijnenberg - Siurulainen, Bellolio - Pappagallo, Oks, Campara, Şahin, Procino - Wilmes, Ricucci, Ciuffo.
Ceraino used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit
A. Oks just fine.
Ceraino's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends.
Ceraino's
F. Alcaide was shown a yellow card after 11 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
C. Quintavalla caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 18 minutes. This gave Ceraino the 1 - 0 lead.
The visitors didn't give in and, after 28 minutes,
A. Bellolio got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1.
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to ghe(ss), who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
The referee showed Ceraino's
R. Costa Matias the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After 64 minutes, ghe(ss)'s
P. Pappagallo made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2.
T. Şahin had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today.
A drive down the left side allowed
G. Ciuffo to get in close and score another goal for ghe(ss) after 85 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 3.
L. Wilmes came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
A. Di Lonardo but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
89 minutes in, Ceraino's
A. Carrasquero received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Unfortunately for ghe(ss),
B. Konijnenberg was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
M. Botey replaced him.
ghe(ss) enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
Ceraino's top performer was clearly
F. Leguen.
A. Di Lonardo was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating ghe(ss) player was without a doubt
G. Ciuffo.
H. Siurulainen turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 3.
