Clear skies welcomed the 800 spectators who had made their way to Coliseum Cartagenero. Hugo Leal was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Stig Nielsen and Söncke Schwingenschrot. Cartagena had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Martínez - Medina, Gonzalo Matas, Gómez de la Blanca - Pedrós, Yeste Serrano, Franganillo, Pérez Marín - Vilaspasa, Santacruz, Irureta.

Pucks decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Protas - Pratini, Aristarkhov, Roselaar - Laviolette, Baronchelli, Gozhdari, Gortemaker, Almeida Machado - Ripatti, Kujanpää.

With 3 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as B. Irureta flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. G. Baronchelli tied the game at 1 - 1 after 8 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. After 12 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Cartagena's J. Yeste Serrano being carried off the pitch and replaced by S. Rutland. Pucks's M. Ripatti was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 20 minutes. After 21 minutes, Pucks put themselves up 1 - 2, as A. Pratini finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. The home crowd cheered when, after 26 minutes, R. Kujanpää's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. C. Gómez de la Blanca of Cartagena received a yellow card after 29 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. With 30 minutes played, M. Ripatti nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 33 minutes, Cartagena did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, M. Santacruz was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 2. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Pucks had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

The terraces were silenced after 49 minutes when Pucks's E. Almeida Machado put the guests ahead 2 - 3, following an attack on the right. Cartagena tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. Ó. Gonzalo Matas's inexperience was obvious when his continual hesitation to put in a tackle allowed M. Ripatti plenty of time to pick an unguarded area of the goal for his shot, marking one for Pucks. 2 - 4. G. Baronchelli increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 2 - 5. The home crowd was not impressed when B. Gozhdari came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 86 minutes. Pucks were now up 2 - 6. Possession in this half belonged to Pucks, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

S. Vilaspasa performed admirably for Cartagena. However, A. Martínez made a disastrous appearance. Pucks's best player was R. Kujanpää. F. Roselaar turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 6.
