Onda 5 - 1 Wisła
(378836027)

01-05-2012 20.20
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1193 that came out to
San Quentin.
David Hansen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
David Mårtensson and
Kevin Nicodemus.
Onda started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Laine - Alarto, Jortama - Olsen, Heinikorpi, Iivanainen, Isopoussu, Raper - Kilpiäinen, Hirsikorpi, Lukula.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Wisła.
Lineup: Apostoł - Kempski, Golubiewski, Aleksiejew, Ziarkiewicz, Wuwer - Szetela, Warczak, Korzeń, Kujawiński - Knarren.
Onda were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
After 4 minutes, Wisła sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
G. Aleksiejew, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 1.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
P. Knarren was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 35 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 39 minutes into the match, an alert
K. Jortama bagged the ball for Onda, levelling the score to 1 - 1.
Onda had a chance to take the lead after
S. Raper's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 40 minutes.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
K. Kempski found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
Onda took the lead 44 minutes in, as
T. Heinikorpi broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Onda, with 70 percent of the ball.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Onda scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
S. Kilpiäinen after 51 minutes.
E. Olsen increased the lead for Onda to 4 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
It was obvious that Onda had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
With 64 minutes played, Onda put themselves up 5 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
S. Kilpiäinen, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
By now, the players in Onda felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Players in Onda heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
Onda's
P. Iivanainen had an excellent opportunity after 71 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
The coach of Onda was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 81 minutes,
J. Hokkila came on for
E. Olsen.
S. Kilpiäinen was the new captain of Onda - handed the armband by the departing player.
Onda claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
S. Raper performed admirably for Onda.
J. Isopoussu on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Wisła's best player was
W. Apostoł.
However,
K. Kempski made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 1.
