Dark skies made the crowd of 947 at Atomic Fisk Bowl a little nervous, but the rain held off. Terry Finney was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Brix Geschwendtner and Fortunato Senzanonna. Atomic decided to use a 5-5-0 set up. Starters: Jones - Kuutamo, Havens, Breen, Harpegnies, Molina - McClure, Weller, Gomez, Wetzk, Gilley -.

Paraquats tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination. Lineup: Huebner - Pogodin, Sheehan, Olalde, Hillman, Ewing - Mawe, van 't Hoog, Amaru, Milo, Ozon -.

The strategy for Atomic was to use their ability to press. Pressing was the tactic of the day for Paraquats. At this time in the match, Atomic were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, R. Pogodin got himself booked. The manager of Paraquats was not happy. It might be a while before the fans see Atomic's J. Kuutamo again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 24 minute mark. He was replaced by H. Unger. Atomic's T. McClure was shown a yellow card after 28 minutes for slicing down an opponent. P. Mawe always provides an aerial threat at corners, and with 29 minutes gone, he demonstrated this, outjumping his marker, then letting out an anguished howl as his powerful header went narrowly wide. Paraquats's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Paraquats claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

Paraquats pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. R. Pogodin would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. G. Stassijns entered the game for Paraquats as the match clock showed 60 minutes. After 66 minutes, the Atomic manager redeployed his men. F. Wetzk swapped positions with Y. Harpegnies. 75 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Paraquats substitution. J. Matos came on for B. Ewing. After 75 minutes, the Paraquats coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving E. Hillman off the field. E. Means took his place. The pressing tactics used by Paraquats were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Paraquats enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. The Paraquats coach adjusted their lineup with 91 minutes gone. P. van 't Hoog and I. Sheehan assumed each other's positions. As the clock reached 91 minutes, Atomic decided to regroup. A. Jones gave J. Breen a little pat on the back as they changed positions on the pitch. The result was still a draw, so the match had to be settled with penalties.

Atomic's R. Weller didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of T. Huebner. The score remained 0 - 0. Oooh - how unlucky! Paraquats's E. Means attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of J. Breen. The score stays 0 - 0. Atomic's Y. Harpegnies looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 0 - 0. Clearly nervous from the start, Paraquats's E. Olalde took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 0 - 0. Atomic's A. Jones looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Paraquats's J. Matos penalty shot was very well placed but J. Breen went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 0 - 0. Clearly nervous from the start, Atomic's D. Havens took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 0 - 0. Paraquats's I. Sheehan looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 0 - 0. Atomic's T. Gomez looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Oooh - how unlucky! Paraquats's G. Stassijns attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of J. Breen. The score stays 0 - 0. Oooh - how unlucky! Atomic's B. Gilley attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of T. Huebner. The score stays 0 - 0. Clearly nervous from the start, Paraquats's Ł. Ozon took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 0 - 0. Atomic's H. Unger made no mistake. T. Huebner didn't have a chance. 1 - 0. Paraquats's T. Huebner showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 1 - 1. Atomic's F. Wetzk didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of T. Huebner. The score remained 1 - 1. Paraquats's P. van 't Hoog cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Oooh - how unlucky! Atomic's T. McClure attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of T. Huebner. The score stays 1 - 1. Paraquats's C. Amaru drove the ball hard to the corner but couldn't get it past the outstretched arm of J. Breen. The score remains 1 - 1. Atomic's J. Breen didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of T. Huebner. The score remained 1 - 1. A confident A. Milo of Paraquats put the ball right where he wanted, but J. Breen was right there for the save. No goal. Atomic's M. Molina kept his cool as he faced down T. Huebner. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 2 - 1. Paraquats's P. Mawe was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 2 - 2! Atomic's R. Weller looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 2 - 2. Paraquats's E. Means looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 2 - 2. Atomic's Y. Harpegnies didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of T. Huebner. The score remained 2 - 2. Huebner managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 2 - 2 score. Paraquats's J. Matos looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Atomic's D. Havens coolly put the ball past T. Huebner. 3 - 2. Paraquats's I. Sheehan didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of J. Breen. The score remained 3 - 2. Most important Atomic player was J. Breen. Y. Harpegnies on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Paraquats player was without a doubt P. van 't Hoog. G. Stassijns turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
