Dark skies made the crowd of 4110 at Thusner Tempel a little nervous, but the rain held off. Ville Sukala was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Onur Özkam and Guillermo Lock. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Basañez's N. Corral somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for C. Coimbra, who struck for 1 - 2. Eintracht had to make a substitution after 39 minutes. T. Darcq limped off the field and was replaced by P. Becquet. It was 1 - 2 at the break. Eintracht claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.

Had it not been for one of the home defenders, C. Coimbra would have put Basañez up another goal 64 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Some fine movement on the left led to a Basañez goal after 67 minutes, making it 1 - 3. R. Bolatti was noted down as the scorer. Eintracht reduced the lead to 2 - 3 with 68 minutes on the clock when P. Benvegnù got the best of a ball floated in from the left. 70 minutes in, Eintracht's P. Becquet received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. G. Siedler's lack of experience almost gave Basañez a goal after 79 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 80 minutes gave Eintracht a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and A. As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Basañez's M. Sánchez after 101 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 3 - 4 lead. With that Basañez had won the game in extra time. Eintracht's best player was P. Becquet. On the other hand, P. Benvegnù's play was disheartening. Most important Basañez player was C. Coimbra. E. Berntsen turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 4.
