previous 3/10 next 5/10  Hapoel 7 - 4 Riedseltz (379007836)

2803 spectators had come to Blom Field this cloudy day. John Tranhult was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alexander Kopietz and Amaury Deruwe. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Hapoel. The following players took the field: Amrani - Kominko, Ariel, Rappaport - Calvani, Zebunke, Aceña, Ostadi, Zsarnay - Graps, Török.

Riedseltz decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Cariou - Mille, Demetri, Cusin - Bureau, Figueruela, Caracciolo, Tandary - Buttke, Morkowski, Le Corre.

Riedseltz used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. V. Calvani caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 12 minutes. This gave Hapoel the 1 - 0 lead. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Hapoel's I. Zsarnay somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for H. Graps, who struck for 2 - 0. It was obvious that team Riedseltz had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. A bit later, Riedseltz's J. Mille easily reduced the lead to 2 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. 35 minutes into the game, Hapoel seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to solid. Hapoel's D. Török increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 37 minutes. Riedseltz were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 38 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to M. Cusin, who smashed it home to make the score 3 - 2. After 39 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after T. Buttke made it through the middle and struck home to make it 3 - 3. 3 - 3 was the halftime score. Hapoel claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

The Hapoel players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a solid organisation when the game started again. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, H. Graps scored for Hapoel putting them ahead 4 - 3, after 47 minutes. After 63 minutes Riedseltz's C. Morkowski had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. L. Preetzmann came in to replace him. 64 minutes in, Hapoel appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. Riedseltz tied it all up, 76 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by A. Le Corre, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 4 - 4. 77 minutes into the match and the home team took a 5 - 4 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Hapoel was H. Graps. That made three goals for H. Graps and he was marked down for the hat trick. With 82 minutes played, Hapoel put themselves up 6 - 4 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Y. Rappaport, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The players of Hapoel now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Hapoel to 7 - 4 as P. Ostadi finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Possession in this half belonged to Hapoel, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

The most dominating Hapoel player was without a doubt H. Graps. However, S. Amrani made a disastrous appearance. Most important Riedseltz player was Z. Caracciolo. J. Cariou on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 7 - 4.
