It had rained all day, but 147 hardy fans still made it out to
Vimos do Monte Stadium.
Tuisku Niskanen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Laurent Almeras and
Tor Willatzen.
Vimos decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Halwachs - Villametide, Calancha, Sáez Barrio - Fontcuberta, Santaya, Yelpo, Ratz, Pros - Aguasantas, Subiñà.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Ferrussola.
Starters: Tecco - Melo Silva, Doboş, Ezcurra - Gorostiaga, de Quiñones, Calafell, Calvo - 旭日 (Xuri) , Melón, Collbatallé.
Pressing was the tactic of the day for Ferrussola.
Vimos fans held their breath as
J. Subiñà scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
F. Calancha had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today.
Vimos increased the lead as
M. Sáez Barrio struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
By now, the players in Vimos felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
R. Santaya unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
It was a bad day for the usually speedy
C. Aguasantas. The mud seemed to slow him down.
25 minutes into the game, Vimos were awarded a penalty that
R. Santaya turned into 3 - 0 without a problem.
The referee showed Vimos's
C. Aguasantas the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Ferrussola, as
罗. 旭日 (Xuri) left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
G. Ezkaroz took his place on the field.
The score became 4 - 0 at 41 minutes into the game, when Vimos were given a penalty which
R. Santaya blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance!
It was 4 - 0 at the break.

M. Zalón was the replacement.
C. Aguasantas wanted to play on, but the Vimos coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
V. Romano.
M. Zalón was the new captain of Vimos - handed the armband by the departing player.
The coach of Vimos was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes,
G. Mola came on for
M. Fontcuberta.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
P. Yelpo squirmed through their central defence after 48 minutes, increasing the lead to 5 - 0.
After 49 minutes, Ferrussola's
I. Gorostiaga fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
After 54 minutes,
E. de Quiñones sent the corner kick right to
F. Ezcurra who headed it sharply past the keeper. 5 - 1!
Vimos's
R. Santaya struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 6 - 1 after 57 minutes.
By then
R. Santaya had scored three goals - a hat trick!
After 71 minutes, Ferrussola switched
D. Doboş with
M. Fortet, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
G. Ezkaroz of Ferrussola displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered
P. Yelpo and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 6 - 2.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 81 minutes, Vimos did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
G. Mola was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 7 - 2.
The home team's fans were upset when, after 83 minutes, the visiting
R. Calafell broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 7 - 3 was the score.
With 84 minutes played,
P. Yelpo could have brought this one home for Vimos as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Ferrussola enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
Most important Vimos player was
V. Pros.
On the other hand,
H. Halwachs's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Ferrussola player was without a doubt
R. Collbatallé.
M. Fortet was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 7 - 3.
